I believe the Planning and Zoning Commission needs to be proactive in planning the future of our town. We need all members of the Commission and town staff to have clear and universal goals. One of these should be to aggressively increase the commercial and industrial tax base in the town of Southington. Now especially, we must ease the tax burden on the residents of Southington. I believe it can be done without major changes to the landscape of our town. I also think we need to communicate well with prospective developers and business owners as well as existing town residents in a timely manner. We need promote the type of growth in town that will increase the quality of life that the residents work so hard for. Southington is my hometown. I have been married for twenty-one years and have a twelve-year-old daughter in the Southington school system. I graduated from Southington high school in 1983. I have been involved in construction since 1983. In 1991 I started working in the environmental remediation field. I am now a Senior Project Supervisor for a local environmental company. I believe this experience gives me an advantage dealing with the complicated issues the commission will face in the future. |
